Everything you need to know about working with Dr. Deck — from process and pricing to materials and service area.
It starts with a free on-site consultation where Kevin walks the property, listens to what you're envisioning, and gives you an honest ballpark estimate. From there, as materials and finishes are selected, the estimate is refined into a detailed written proposal before any work begins. Once you're ready to move forward, we schedule your build and when we start, it's Kevin's full focus until the job is done.
Most decks take one to three weeks depending on size, complexity, and materials. We'll give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you informed throughout the build.
Yes. We're happy to support the permitting process by providing specs, drawings, and documentation your municipality may require. Obtaining the actual permit is the homeowner's responsibility and is not included in the project cost, but we'll make sure you have everything you need to get it done.
Never. Dr. Deck operates one project at a time. When we're on your job, you have Kevin's complete attention. No splitting focus between sites, no shortcuts.
Every deck is different, so we don't publish fixed prices. Most residential decks in CNY range from $15,000 to $50,000+ depending on size, materials, and complexity. The best way to get an accurate number is a free on-site consultation.
The biggest factors are square footage, decking material, railing system, finishes, number of stairs, height off grade, and footing requirements. We'll walk through all of it with you during your estimate.
Contact us through the website or give us a call. Kevin will schedule a free on-site visit, take measurements, and follow up with a detailed written proposal. No pressure, no obligation.
Composite decking, including brands like Trex, TimberTech, and AZEK, requires virtually no maintenance, won't rot or splinter, and holds up exceptionally well through CNY winters. Pressure-treated lumber and cedar cost less upfront but require regular staining and sealing to maintain. Kevin will help you weigh both options for your budget and lifestyle.
Most premium composite decking products carry 25 to 50-year warranties from the manufacturer. With proper care, a well-built composite deck should outlast most of the alternatives on the market.

Kevin has been in the carpentry and construction trades for over 40 years, building decks across Central New York since the 1980s.
Yes. Kevin is fully insured. We're happy to provide documentation upon request.
In our service area, New York does not require a general contractor license for residential deck construction. What that means in practice is that anyone can legally build your deck, which is exactly why who you hire matters. Kevin's 40+ years of hands-on experience, his attention to structural detail, and his reputation in the community are the credentials that count. We'd rather earn your trust through our work than a piece of paper.
